there was a time, oh there may still be a time, when we sink our own identity into a hue… a shade… a color. we become sassy, cosmopolitan – all black and greys. we are soft fluttery pink with just a fiery hint of red. we can’t help but attribute personality, emotions, memories and visions to color. we’re named after one – red – after all.
and yet what if we tried on color, like we try on shoes or jeans? what affect on the home, the body, our surroundings would a change of color make? who would we be in these subtle shades of sky? these slivers of silvery aqua? these icy blues, turquoises and mints?
at once calming, victorian and yet the colors of great science fiction there is a combination of levity and depth in the myriad pale shades of blue, mint, turquoise and aqua we are exploring this month. these are the colors of the sea shore, the bluest ocean – in these colors lie the mysteries of life, the possibility of teaming and thriving – all subdued in a soft, drifting ‘yes, but not yet.’ demure reservation.
and oh there is celebration! tiffany blue, spearmint and merengue: these colors are a sweet pleasing joy. a sign of uncomplicated delight.
and there is action. a clean, wind-in-the-hair sort of blue brings a smiling stream of energy in tow.
blues make the most beautiful candy background. there is nothing like the sky to stop us in our tracks, to see the world around us with new eyes. to see through the familiar to something spectacular – something that reaches beyond the backyard, the park, the highway for miles and miles and miles.
find your spot for color. bring the unanticipated into your world through a spot of paint…
a sip of subtle hues…
or a bold splash of colors in harmony, in monochrome, in joy and levity through linens, walls and accents.
we’d love to help you find your hues.
