we are thrilled to share red's latest press appearance with you even before it hits the stands! Mary Englebreit Home Companion spent several days with us working in Abby's Guesthouse to put together all that you see below! we transformed this guesthouse and had such a great time with ME Home's gracious editorial and styling team that we can't wait to show you the results!!!

you'll recognize red's favorites throughout! we started by creating a great backdrop of vintage and modern whites: this terrific faux suede sofa and vintage metal 3 door set of book shelves set the scene for us to move in funky film crew lights, movie reels, and accent it all with bright throw pillows, colorful collage work and more.
this project was a collaboration on all fronts, Karl and Mary Ransleben, red's outstanding owners helped make it all possible while Carolyn and crew gathered the pieces together to tell just the right story! Grab ME Home next month to read all the details!(and if you notice something different about the picture on this page in the magazine... don't say we didn't warn you!)
Again accenting with movie reels, this time on a grand scale Abby's bedroom was set alight with our one of our favorite 4 poster beds in hammered metal with a leather headboard and gorgeous silk bed linens. From vintage phones to local watercolors by Joyce Trautwein (bottom right) we created a respite for any modern soul with a taste for vintage flair!as seen in the above pics:
these stunning paintings, most of which are now hanging in red's other favorite bed and breakfast, are just amazing. the two on the left are still available at $195 each: a perfect couplet of style. And check out that pillow! luckily there are more where that came from, yours for $215. custom fabric and stain options available on this bedroom chair, and the mirrored side table finishes any bedside for $450. While we transformed Abby's Guesthouse into our own studio for home design, art is always within reach. These funky collages, (mixed with gorgeous white vases that double as pencil and brush holders) are made from torn magazine paper and vintage odds and ends by Nikki Moore and are part of her larger body of work and commissions which can be viewed here!
Small spaces need special consideration and this serene bathroom scene was a great little renovation. We love this round mirror and the terrific moss green accents! These sweet glass apothecary jars help keep things calm and collected.
red is all about the graphic arts: we think numbers and letters are simple, stylish ways to add action to any room. and who knew clip lights could look so good as they are redefined in this grouping with a stunning shell mirror and more of Nikki's artwork.
playing cards, vintage glasses, beautiful black onyx and our favorites in vintage technology: vintage type writers, vintage microscopes... what could be better? Perhaps only this playful vintage metal cupboard to display it all!
we all need a sign, don't we? and we thought a sign about fuel was just the thing to point toward breakfast! These sweet stainless table and bentwood white chair groups work indoor for small spaces and outdoor for spring and summer entertaining. The 4-tiered chrysanthemum drum light above gives pattern to this playful arrangement and light for lunch!
These simple stainless shelves are the best way to showcase plates, mirrors, glasses and your favorite odds and ends. (3' shelf, $85, 5' shelf, $135) We've decked ours with a collection of colorful vintage spring glasses... mix and match, we say!
in this digital age, film is becoming a rare commodity: check out Carolyn's rare skills in setting this window scene with a curtain all its own!For the real story behind the story pictured here,

Hey Nikki - Great post! Is it okay if I put it on my blog, too, before it hits the news stands?
Missing you and Costa Rica!!
are you kidding?! we'd be so honored to have the article on hill country house! for anyone reading who hasn't seen this blog, it is a great survey of the best of fredericksburg design and an inspiration! we'd love to be seen there!
You guys are my inspiration! I have just been thinking about you recently. And saw this article and made the connection. My sister, Beth and I were in the store at Christmas and were quite impressed. It is a lovely twist on fredericksburg traditional. Thank you for doing what you do best. I would love to connect again next time we are back in town. Take care!
